2010 Florida Biomedical Society BMET of the Year Award

 

 

Purpose of award

The primary purpose of this award is to identify the outstanding BMET in the state of Florida.  Secondary purposes will be to publicize the winners and highlight their contributions to their place of employment and to their community.   It also will publicize the important contribution of BMETs to the delivery of quality healthcare.  Additionally, the reward will stimulate the interest of BMETs in the Florida Biomedical Society.

 

Process for Selection of nominees

A single nominee for Florida’s BMET of the year will be selected by each local society.  Selection will be based on the nominee’s professional achievements, contributions to their place of employment, and community activities.

 

Nominations shall be limited to persons actively working as technicians or working managers and a member in good standing order with there local society, that has been attending regular meetings.  Directors, managers and supervisors should not be nominated for this award unless the majority of their time is spent performing technician’s duties.  Other than the above requirements, local societies may use any method they deem appropriate for selecting their nominee.

All nominations for Florida’s BMET of the year must be submitted on nomination forms provided by the Florida Biomedical Society.

 

Nomination and Final Selection Process

Each local society will select a single outstanding BMET of the Year.  Each local society may use whatever method they deem appropriate for this purpose.   The outstanding BMETs from the local societies will become the final candidates for Florida’s BMET of the year.  Final selection Florida’s outstanding BMET selection will be made by the FBS board of directors and announced at the symposium. 

 

Publicity Plan

Letters will be sent to members of the nominees reporting chain which chain will include nominee’s immediate supervisor, administrative Vice President, and CEO.  These letters will explain that the candidate has been named outstanding BMET of the local society, and nominated as one of Florida’s outstanding technicians.  The letter will discuss the reasons the nominee is considered outstanding and the important contributions BMETs make to the delivery of quality healthcare.

 

A news release will be sent to the in-house newsletter of each nominee’s organization.  The news release will discuss the reasons the nominee is considered outstanding and the important contributions that BMETs make to the delivery of quality healthcare.

 

When possible, a news release will be sent to local newspaper of each nominee’s community.  The news release will discuss the reasons the nominee is considered outstanding and the important contributions that BMETs make to the delivery of quality healthcare.

 

Critical Elements

It is important that persons submitting nomination forms provide enough information so that we know where to direct the publicity.  Although this requires extra work on their behalf, the publicity that their nominee receives should be worth the extra effort. Please, include a digital photo if possible.
